Trade Queue Permissions Overview
The Trade Queue allows users to create, submit, review, approve, reject, delete, and send FX trade requests to integrated third-party trade platforms. ChathamDirect has designed permissions-based controls to allow maximum flexibility in how treasury and trading teams are structured while supporting segregation of duties and auditability of all trade-related activity conducted within the system.
The basic workflow for a trade request in ChathamDirect is Unsubmitted > Submitted for Approval > Approved for Execution > Sent to Platform > Executed. The Trade Queue permissions are tied directly to these workflow stages and their associated actions.
There are a total of six user-level permissions that dictate the activities a user may conduct within the Trade Queue.
Accessing the Trade Queue Permissions
Trade Queue Permissions are listed under the Trading section of the permissions page in the Company Administration menu. Only users who have been designated the ability to create or edit users can customize Trade Queue Permissions.
For more information on accessing and editing user permissions please see the below support Article.
Manage Users, Roles, Permissions
Tip: While viewing the permissions list, if you type "req" in the permissions search box, it will restrict your display to the 6 permissions specific to Trade Queue activity.
Submit Trade Requests
The Submit Trade Request permission should be granted to users who are responsible for creating new trade requests and trade recommendations. This permission will impact the activities and notifications available on specific trade requests created by the user.
Capabilities associated with the Submit Trade Requests permission:
- Manually create new trade requests directly in the Trade Queue, using the the Excel trade loader, or from the Balance Sheet and/or Cash Flow Exposure Management modules if they are enabled
- Submit for review any trade requests the user creates, which advances the trade requests to Submitted for Approval status
- Edit trade requests the user creates
- Delete or Reject the user's own trade requests
- Edit and resubmit any rejected trade requests the user creates
- Receive toast notifications and optional emails regarding actions taken on trade requests the user created
Approve Trade Requests
The Approve Trade Requests permission should be granted to users who are responsible for reviewing and approving trade requests created by other people.
Capabilities associated with the Approve Trade Requests permission:
- Approve trade requests created and submitted by other users, which advances the trade requests to Approved for Execution status
- Reject trade requests created and submitted by other users, which sends trade requests back to the submitter in the Rejected status
- Receive toast notifications and optional emails regarding the submission and deletion of trade requests in the Submitted for Approval status
Approve Self-Submitted Trade Requests
The Approve Self-Submitted Trade Requests permission should be granted to users who are allowed to approve their own trade requests.
Capabilities associated with the Approve Self-Submitted Trade Requests:
- Approve trade requests that were created by the user.
- The system will "fast-forward" through the approval process any newly created trade requests by a user who has both Submit and Approve Self-Submitted Trade Requests. The user will be listed as the Creator, Submitter, and Approver in the trade request log and Excel export. These trade requests will advance directly from creation to the Approved for Execution status.
Send Trade Requests for Execution
The Send Trade Requests for Execution permission should be granted to users who will be responsible for sending trade requests created by other people to an integrated third-party trade platform.
Capabilities associated with the Send Trade Requests for Execution permission:
- Send trade requests that have already been approved to a third-party trade platform via ChathamDirect integration
- Receive toast notifications and optional emails regarding trade requests that have advanced to, or been deleted from, the Approved for Execution status and additional notifications once sent trades have been fully executed on the third-party trade platform and moved to Executed status within ChathamDirect.
Send Self-Submitted Trade Requests for Execution
The Send Self-Submitted Trade Requests for Execution permission should be granted to users who are permitted to send trade requests they created and submitted for approval to the integrated third-party trade platform after approval has been granted.
Capabilities associated with the Send Self-Submitted Trade Requests for Execution permission:
- Send approved trade requests that were created by the user to an integrated third-party trade platform.
Require Two-Party Submission
The Require Two-Party Submission control should be enabled when a client desires dynamic two-party approval and execution processes. It ensures "two sets of eyes" on a trade request before it is executed.
Capabilities associated with Require Two-Party Submission:
- The same user cannot execute both steps of approving and sending a trade request to an integrated third-party trade platform, even if they have permissions to do both.
- A user with both 'Approve' and 'Send Trade Requests for Execution' permissions can perform the Approve function on one trade request and the Send function on different trade request, but not both functions on the same trade request.
